Unsolicited

This weekend my third grader gets into the car and tells me emphatically, "MOM...I love the Internet!". This is from a child that has had an interesting life. Being severely apraxic, Kiki has had one consistent friend and cheerleader her lttle life (besides me). Technology. She gets it. Since she's been carrying around a communication device since she was three, maybe she gets it more than most, but it is clear that she has come to understand some of the power of the Interrnet. She uses two devices most...the iPad and a Kindle Fire. I've come to understand that the Internet is a willing playmate. When she has no one she's willing to try and talk to, she uses her two favorite devices. The let her play games, be creative, learn, and listen. Why can't we all feel so excited about the prospects of technology?
